Hyatt Culinary Challenge Finale

The recently concluded Hyatt Culinary Challenge, held at Oval Room at The Mansion, The Hyatt Regency New Delhi, saw 10 talented chefs from various cities compete in the Grand Finale cook off. Mr. Haim Levy from New Delhi was declared the winner by a panel of judges comprising Actress and passionate foodie Pooja Bhatt, food aficionado and gourmand Sourish Bhattacharya and Brian Cleere, Director of Culinary Development, Hyatt Southwest Asia

The lucky winner got a "Trip to Paris with business class return airfare and three night stay for two adults."
To emphasize focus on its rich culinary heritage, Hyatt Hotels in India had introduced the “Hyatt Culinary Challenge 2014--people cooking for people” last month across select locations in India where Hyatt hotels are present.

In this glittering, gala event, Hyatt Regency indeed displayed its F & B acumen to the hilt. A plethora of exotic cheeses, cold cuts and wines greeted the guests. The snack island was packed with guests making a beeline for steamed dumplings and tuna, the choicest of ham and olives, chilled carrot soup and cauliflower creme brulee, all healthy, nothing fried!

The sand artist regaled the audiences with a spectacular display of the Hyatt story through fluid sand art. As evocative images culled through light and sand mesmerised audiences, one couldn't help admiring the culmination of so many skills that actually conjure memorable stays at hotels.

Just when you thought, that was the end of the entertainment that evening, the anchor showcased the live kitchens of the beautiful banqueting venue. As the screens swept aside to display the sparkling live kitchen that runs along one entire length of the hall, chefs clad in their crisp white uniforms broke into a broadway style dance routine with ladles and pans in hand. It was showbiz, it was drama, it was performance art elevated to a new level, everything the hospitality industry is all about, at the end of the way. I am convinced it was one of the most creatively conceptualised hotel events I have witnessed in recent times!

The food was exquisite, right from lobster ravioli to freshly baked pizzas. The dessert counter was a candy lover's dream, strawberry lollipops, biscotti, white chocolate fountain and a selection of delectable desserts. My little girl-who has a sweet tooth to beat all sweet teeth- had the time of her life sampling the fare!

The Hyatt Culinary Challenge 2014 – ‘people cooking for people’ was a unique event which was held simultaneously in several cities from 31st October. The preliminary rounds of the inaugural 2014 season were started off across Hyatt Hotels in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Raipur, Kolkata and Mumbai. These rounds were a runaway success with senior representatives from the corporate world coming together with enthusiastic young partners from the SMILE Foundation NGO to create culinary masterpieces.
